Umrah 2022 Guidelines
Saudi Government says that the country will allow the people (pilgrims) who are 18 or over to perform Umrah this year. The Saudi Ministry and Hajj declares that fully Covid-19 vaccinated (with any of the approved vaccines) people will be given the Umrah Visa and no quarantine will be needed for them. The approved vaccines are Pfizer Biotech / Oxford AstraZeneca / Moderna / Johnson and Johnson. The applicants cannot depart for Saudi Arabia before completing 14 days of their full vaccination. Even though the visa applicants are fully vaccinated with approved vaccines, they have to submit a negative certificate of PCR test done within 72 hours prior to their departure both to/from Saudi Arabia. Additionally, the authorities expect the applicants to be in good health to ensure the safety of other pilgrims.
Each pilgrim has to register his/her Covid vaccination status on Saudi Arabia’s Covid-19 App, Tawakkalna, and the Umrah App Tamanna. The 2 apps are the authorized official portals to issue permits to get access to restricted places. Entering into the Masjid Al Haram in Makkah and Masjid Al Nabawi in Madinah requires entry permission. If anyone is found in the masques without permission will be fined SR1,000. The pilgrims will be allowed to worship and perform Umrah on scheduled time slots and they are urged to arrive on time to avoid the risk of losing their allotted time slots. Also, no vehicles will be allowed to enter the central region around Makkah without authorization.

The worshiper sets Niyat for Umrah and recites Talbiya before Meqat.
The Right Process of Wearing Ihram
Take a shower with the intention of Ihram. > 2. Wear Ihram sheets. > 3. Offer 2 Rakat of Nafal Salah covering your head. > 4. Uncover your head and say Niyyah (intention). > 5. Recite Talbiyah and go for Tawaf.
What Not to Do Wearing Ihram
- Using perfume (even using soap or shampoo in the shower).
- Wearing nekabs or hand gloves (for women), wearing no caps (for men).
- Wearing stitched clothes (for men).
- Trimming nails.
- Cutting hair from any part of the body.
- Getting married.
- Engaging in sexual activities.

Performing Tawaf
Move around Kaaba seven times with respect and devotion. While performing Tawaf, stop reciting Talbiyah. After performing Tawaf, start at the Black Stone. Kiss it if you can. If you cannot kiss, touch the stone with your right hand. If you cannot touch the stone, face the stone and point it with your right hand.
Perform Sa’ee
Run or walk 7 seven rounds between the hills of Safah and Marwah. The Safah is located in the North of Kaaba and the Marwah is in the South of Kaaba.
Ending Ihram, The Final Ritual of Umrah
Ending Ihram is the final step of performing Umrah. For men, trimming or shaving the hair of the head and changing the Ihram to normal clothes are the completion of rituals of Umrah. For women, trimming the hair of the head with a fingertip and changing the Ihram to normal clothes are the completion of Umrah rituals. This is the end of the state of Ihram and the rules of Ihram are lifted.
